It was raining sunday morning...the weather is cloudy and freezing cold when we reach at the Gunung Jerai (Kedah) mountain foothill. There were 2 teams came for the ride, SP MTB and Penang KT Cycletron team. However due to the continuous rain, the KT Cycletron teams had changed their mind not to go for a ride for fearing any untoward incidents and unforseen circumstances. Well our SP MTB team's spirit is high and we gave green light to go ahead despite raining had slowing down. The weather is cold and windy too. We started to cycle and I could felt my both legs was heavy and tired cause I stop cycling for 2 years back. The last time ride to Gunung Jerai was a huge mistake and embarassing moment when I only able to climb for only 200 meters and stop due to excessive eating and drinking a night before. This time despite tiring but my will and spirit is very high. I almost wanted to call it quit when I reach 4th Km check point. But my heart and will keep pushing me to go ahead and I don't want to be call useless if i able to stop. I took my bike and swing into action. I kept peddling slowly and pain stakingly. It was mental torturing seeing the road infront kept going up like never end. Seeing this I try to comfort my self " YOU CAN DO IT !" and I started to change my focus to see left and right, like trying to enjoy the green scenery. Slowly I reached at the 8th KM check point and I could see many riders made a stop at the resting hut for some short rest. I continued my ride and it really gave me confident and I pushed myself to the maximum limit. I kept going until I reached at the museum and I felt relieved caused I knew it was almost end there. I could see many riders started to push their bike up because the road is getting steeper and steeper. I kept cycling slowly and phase by phase. Finally I REACHED at the PEAK!! The joy, the pain, the tiredness, the heart thumbing and continous breathing, Crowd cheerings and so on.... it was a very joyfull moment and victorous moment for me to conquer the peak.
On the top, everybody were enjoying their nasi lemak meal and photoshots. Then we continue our downhill ride. It only took us 15 minutes to reached at the foothill....success! Bravo to all my fellow friends....
